Move vehicles out of the driveway and away from the sides of the home before the crew arrives. A dumpster or trailer will be placed in the driveway for tear-off material, and crew members and equipment will be moving around the full perimeter. Clear any patio furniture, potted plants, or decorative items within a few feet of the home's exterior. If you have a grill, a storage unit, or children's equipment near the house, move it back from the work zone.

2. Inside The Home: Attic & Walls

Tear-off is loud and creates significant vibration. Anything stored loosely in the attic should be moved or covered. If you have items hung on walls, particularly large mirrors, framed art, or shelving with objects on it, take them down or at minimum check that they are secure. Nails and debris from tear-off end up on the ground despite best practices, and a nail sweep at the end of the day is not a guarantee that every nail is recovered the moment it lands. Small children should be kept away from the work perimeter for the same reason.

4. Neighbors and Parking

If your neighbors park on the street near your property, let them know the day before that a crew will be working and that their vehicles might need to be moved to allow for dumpster placement or crew vehicle access.
